Dead Pool

Something not found in online casinos or will it ever be a online casino game, but this is another form of gambling. Making pools is common, but this is a more lugubrious pool. It cannot be in a casino because it is really hard to run as a casino game. It is nothing compared to other games, such as blackjack, online poker or roulette.

A dead pool, or death pool, death watch or ghoul pool as it is known to others, involves predicting when someone will die basically. You can say it is a very morbid game.

Sometimes money is wagered. A modern dead pool usually has players pick out celebrities who  will die within that year. A lot of these games start on 1st of January and run for one year, although there are always variations on game length and timing that can be applied. Scoring issues are also open for debate. Example, a player only gets a few, if any, points at all for predicting the death of someone who is over very old or maybe is suffering from a terminal disease or similar. Other common methods to calculate score is subtracting the celebrity’s age from 100. Sometimes you can make a list and rate their certainty of death and you score higher if the person is high on the list. Or maybe on how many other participants have selected the future deceased. You could also reward every participant with one point per correct prediction regardless of anything else that way they could do research and earn a lot of points that way.

Not only celebrities can be targeted, it has been expanded to include wagering on many abstract entities such as businesses.

Definitions of what a celebrity is can be very diverse. If not a lot of people are in the pool then they can decide who is famous. Larger pools maybe require an obituary in a recognized newspaper. There are committees who dedicate specialists to record the health and fame of celebrities and therefore that is what most online dead pools use to give information to the ones playing.

In almost all pools, killing the target in question is considered to be cheating and will result in the   disqualification that will follow immediately and only the killer will be affected. An exception of this rule is assassination markets.
